From 15 May to 26 June 2025, the Sala Cinema at Rome’s Palazzo Esposizioni will become a sanctuary for the soul, hosting the eleventh edition of Cinemente, a mesmerising fusion of cinema and psychoanalysis. Crafted by Palazzo Esposizioni Roma, the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Cineteca Nazionale, and the Società Psicoanalitica Italiana, with the backing of Rome’s Assessorato alla Cultura and Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, Cinemente invites us to peer into the abyss of human experience. This year’s theme, Forms of Destructiveness, confronts the tides of rage and despair that ripple through our private and collective lives. In an age besieged by war, economic turmoil, domestic strife, and a creeping erosion of empathy, Cinemente offers a rare moment to pause and reflect.
Through the evocative power of film, curated with exquisite care, and the piercing insights of psychoanalysis, this edition delves into the undercurrents of violence and loss that shape our world.
