Second star in Michelin Guide for Domenico Candela’s George Restaurant

Four years after its first red star, the Grand Hotel Parker’s, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, thanks to Domenico Candela, chef of the George restaurant, achieves the prestigious recognition of the second star in the Michelin Guide 2024.

Inaugurated in 2018, the George is Naples’ first bistar restaurant, the brainchild of the Avallone family, now in its fourth generation of hotelliere, which continues to invest in the city and the hotel it has owned, an icon of charm and hospitality since 1870. The George Restaurant, located on the sixth floor of the Grand Hotel Parker’s, Naples’ first five-star luxury hotel, is distinguished by its intimate and elegant atmosphere and the view that opens onto the Bay of Naples, as well as by the originality of the interior spaces, inspired by the life of George Parker, the famous biologist who took over the property in the late 19th century. The spaces harmonize perfectly with the refined mise en place of the dishes, in a sophisticated play of colors and style.

Domenico Candela fuses in his dishes with creative flair the excellent products of his homeland, Campania, the techniques of haute cuisine with international suggestions borrowed in his travels. “I am very proud of this important recognition. An achievement made possible thanks to the commitment, passion and perseverance of my entire brigade and team,” says Chef Domenico Candela, who since January 2018 has been guiding and writing the history of the George restaurant, bringing to Naples the successful experiences gained in prestigious Italian and international multi-starred kitchens. “It is the achievement of a dream, I thank my brigade, my family and my daughter; last but not least, a special thanks to the Avallone family, who believed in this project from the beginning with great respect and humanity always putting the welfare of the whole team at the core,” concludes Chef Domenico Candela.

“The second Michelin star to Domenico Candela fills us with pride and once again rewards the rigor, tenacity and investments made, all in the direction of excellence that this city deserves,” comment Salvatore and Cesira Avallone, owners of Grand Hotel Parker’s together with their sisters. “It is an honor to be the first two-star restaurant in Naples, a recognition that seals the economic and human commitment we make to support the hotel and its entire restaurant offerings, which range from the starred George to the traditional Muse restaurant, led by chef Vincenzo Fioravante. Respect for people, the value of their time and their private lives, have always been the focus of our concerns. Commitment, but also fun, free time and creative minds are the ingredients that lead to success.”
