As the Eternal City prepares to host the fifth Rome Jewelry Week (RJW) from 24-26 October, the international event unveils its 2025 theme: “Gaudium” – a meditation on profound, enduring joy, echoing the spirit of the Jubilee Year. With previews launching as early as 19 September, this edition promises to transform Rome into a glittering crossroads where ancient goldsmithing traditions collide with avant-garde design.
“In troubled times, we champion joy not as fleeting pleasure but as spiritual nourishment,” explain the curators. Over 100 participants – from master jewellers to academies – will explore this concept through exhibitions, workshops and conferences across historic venues.

The journey begins on 19 September at WeGil with an exhibition bridging emerging talents from PREZIOSARE’s artisan network and established masters. On 14 October, Temple University Rome hosts an illustration contest for designers, while 16 October brings both a symposium on jewellery’s contemporary landscape and the unveiling of 2024 Incinque Jewels Prize winners (including Matteo Vitali) at Incinque Open Art Monti gallery.
The pièce de résistance unfolds from 24-26 October within the frescoed Sistine Halls of Santo Spirito Complex, steps from Vatican City. Here, shortlisted pieces from the sixth Incinque Jewels Prize – interpreting “Gaudium” through miniature artworks – will dialogue with Renaissance masterpieces. Not to miss: “Jewels for Freedom” by Elina Chauvet and Alessio Boschi, proving adornment can be a force for social change.

The coveted Incinque Jewels Prize returns with categories spanning fine jewellery to experimental design, alongside lifetime achievement honours. New for 2025: designer Domitilla Funghini’s “Sottrazioni” fashion-jewellery hybrid show and educational partnerships with Alessia Crivelli.
Under architect Monica Cecchini’s direction, RJW cements its role as a global stage where craftsmanship, innovation and cultural discourse converge – proving that even in uncertain times, beauty remains our most resilient language.
