In the heart of the Prati district, just a short stroll from Piazza Cavour, Abitzai Project opened its doors on 13 November, an innovative space that reimagines the traditional showroom as a creative laboratory devoted to contemporary Mediterranean design. Located at Via Muzio Clementi 44-46, this roughly three-hundred-square-metre venue spread across two levels embodies the vision of Claudia Mazohl, who founded the Abitzai brand in 2020 to produce zero-kilometre porcelain stoneware inspired by Sardinian traditions and the broader Mediterranean soul, with an unwavering commitment to sustainability and the authenticity of materials. Designed by Studio Tanzi Architecture, Abitzai Project is far more than a mere exhibition space; it is a living ecosystem where material, light, and cultural roots converge in a sensory journey, inviting architects, designers, and enthusiasts to experiment, invent, and engage with the environment. On the ground floor, two generous shopfront windows facing the street welcome visitors into refined atmospheres, while the lower level is dedicated to hosting workshops, gatherings, and events, establishing itself as an open house for collective creativity. At the core of the experience lie Abitzai’s ceramics, which capture the profound beauty of their native terrain, with the Origini collection designed by Celestino Sanna serving as the guiding thread, complemented by a curated selection of Italy’s finest interior design brands.

Among them stand out the eco-sustainable furnishings of Plinio il Giovane, founded in 1975 by Mario Prandina with limited-series productions of timeless elegance, the meticulously researched textiles of Dino Zoli Textile, born in Forlì in 1972 from in-house studies ranging from natural fibres to reclaimed materials, the premium wooden floors of Listone Giordano, champion for a century of the culture of parquet seamlessly integrated into interiors, the innovative lighting solutions of Sforzin Illuminazione, active since 1966 with modern lines and natural materials distributed in over thirty-five countries, the elegant mixers of Fima Carlo Frattini, which elevate function and wellbeing through harmonious innovation, and the rugs of Mariantonia Urru, weaving Sardinian traditions with contemporary collaborations born from immersive experiences on the island. “Today more than ever I am convinced that identity and a deep connection to our land are the key to rediscovering the authenticity of the spaces we inhabit,” Claudia Mazohl has declared, emphasising how collaboration with partners transforms each brand into a voice in a shared narrative, where visual language emerges from genuine relationships. At a time when Italian design seeks to balance heritage with global innovation, Abitzai Project stands out as a Roman beacon for more mindful living, where Mediterranean light illuminates surfaces that breathe history while reaching towards the future.
