The media partnership with the Cannes Yachting Festival marks the debut of TheUnique on the international scene in a sector, the nautical one, that represents an excellence of Made in Italy – from a design, shipyards, and motoring point of view – worldwide as Sylvie Ernoult director of the Cannes Yachting Festival confirms to us in the video interview.
A long tradition, that of going to sea, which Italians continue to perpetuate as shown by the performance of the nautical market whose turnover in 2022 exceeded 7 billion euros, an increase compared to 2021, with a supply chain that has almost 19,000 local production units, for an added value of more than 11 billion euros and almost 188,000 employees. Italy ranks at the top to produce large boats (superyachts over 25 mt) accounting for almost half of annual world orders with a percentage of 49.3%and is confirmed as the world’s second largest producer with a market share of 12%, preceded only by the United States (40%).
Boating, therefore, is confirmed as one of the leading sectors of Made in Italy with growth forecasts both in terms of size of boats, as stated by Alberto Galassi – CEO of Ferretti Group – at the opening press conference, and in the number of pieces produced.
Italy, with its approximately 8,300 km of coastline, confirms itself as a privileged landing place as confirmed by Rania Rajab – Head of Superyacht Division of Marina d’Arechi – also thanks to its safe, modern, and full of charm infrastructures.
Great attention, in this edition of the festival, to sustainability, also an area in which Italy plays not only a fundamental but a pioneering role, as Marcello Maggi – President of Wider – the Italian shipyard that marked the nautical sector thanks to the introduction of the serial hybrid propulsion system in the yachting world, tells us in the video interview. Having closed this first edition of the festival as media partner, we are already projected to 2024, an edition for which we are studying even more structured forms of interaction to support Italian companies in the sector.
