With 83.4 % of waste recycled in 2022, Italy is the European champion of the circular economy and is a good 30 points above the EU average (52.6 %) and well ahead of other large virtuous countries (such as Germany 70 %, France 64.4 %, and Spain 59.4 %). The figures are contained in the Green Italy report prepared by the Symbola Foundation, Unioncamere and Centro Studi Tagliacarne. Italians often portray Italy as an environmentally poorly virtuous country, while the data prove otherwise. The result is the result of a collective effort in which everyone is a key player: citizens, public structures, the consortium system, and companies, which have shown that they are ahead of the curve and have embraced the principles of the circular economy in their production processes. A success, both economic and cultural, to be protected in all arenas.
