On Sunday, 20th July, at 9:00 PM, the Palazzo delle Arti Beltrani in Trani will transform into a sanctuary of sound with a concert by the Cappuccio Collective Smooth, joined by stellar guests like American vibraphonist Mark Sherman, Brazilian drummer Ramon Montagner, and Italian bassist Dario Deidda.
The evening will pay homage to the timeless vibes of 1970s and ‘80s Smooth Jazz, reimagined with a modern twist infused with disco and fusion influences, captivating both genre aficionados and younger audiences alike. Founded by three talented Campanian musicians—Mimmo Cappuccio (guitar and production), Annina Galiano (vocals), and Cristina Massaro (piano and keyboards), alongside the refined percussion of Ale Duke Migliore—the collective has earned a stellar reputation through collaborations with artists like Nico Rezende, Petra Magoni, Eric Daniel, and Tamir Case.
The true magic of the night will lie in the interplay between these musicians and their guests. Mark Sherman, a Juilliard School professor and vibraphone legend, will bring his impeccable technique and expressive warmth, honed through work with giants like Wynton Marsalis, Michael Brecker, and Peggy Lee. Ramon Montagner, a virtuoso drummer and 2024 Drumeo Awards winner, will enchant with South American rhythms and irresistible grooves, while Dario Deidda, voted Italy’s best bassist eight times, will showcase why he’s one of Europe’s most sought-after, effortlessly navigating from pure jazz to pop with unwavering intensity. The setlist will feature classics like Al Jarreau’s Mornin’, George Benson’s This Masquerade, and Anita Baker’s Sweet Love, reinterpreted with freshness and mastery. This event, set in an extraordinary venue, blends tradition and innovation to celebrate music that knows no boundaries.
