The countdown is on for the third edition of the Olbia Challenger, set to take place from October 12 to 19 at the Tennis Club Terranova. Supported for the third consecutive year by Health Partner Mater Olbia, this Challenger 125 promises top-tier tennis with an impressive entry list led by World No. 72 Alejandro Tabilo, fresh off his ATP 250 title in Chengdu against Lorenzo Musetti. The Chilean, chasing his career-high ranking of No. 19, will headline a field featuring notable names like Pablo Carreno Busta (former World No. 10), Dusan Lajovic (former No. 23), and rising star Nishesh Basavareddy, a former World No. 3 junior now ranked 107. All eyes are on defending champion Martin Landaluce, the 2006-born Spaniard who claimed his first Challenger title in Olbia in 2024 against Mattia Bellucci and is now targeting the Top 100. Italy’s Francesco Maestrelli, who enjoyed a strong 2025 with three Challenger finals, is confirmed in the main draw, with wild cards still to be announced. American Cristopher Eubanks, a former World No. 29 and 2023 Wimbledon quarterfinalist, adds intrigue as he aims to climb back up the rankings.

The tournament, broadcast live on SuperTennis, will be officially presented on Thursday, October 2, at 10:00 AM at the Tennis Club Terranova, marked by the inauguration of a new greenset court, a significant upgrade to the venue. Olbia’s mayor, Settimo Nizzi, praises the event as a global showcase for the city: “The Olbia Challenger is a consolidated fixture that blends competition and passion, positioning Olbia as a hub for sport and culture.” Sports councillor Elena Casu adds: “This tournament embodies energy and community, bringing high-level tennis to our city and inspiring young people with the values of sport.” Giuseppe Bianco, president of Tennis Club Terranova, highlights the club’s commitment: “Hosting a Challenger is an honor. The new court, backed by the Municipality, the Sardinia Region, the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, and our sponsors, reflects the event’s growing impact on the local economic and social fabric. We’re ready to deliver unforgettable moments for fans in person and watching on TV.”
