Eataly to Bring Italian Gastronomic Excellence to the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka

Eataly, the global ambassador of Italian food and wine, has been entrusted with managing the restaurant at the Italy Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka. Located on the rooftop terrace overlooking an Italian-style garden, the restaurant will showcase regional menus, host workshops, and offer educational activities on nutrition, healthy eating, and the stories behind Italy’s local products. The agreement was signed by Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, and Andrea Cipolloni, Group CEO of Eataly. This marks the culmination of a year-long administrative process following Eataly’s successful bid in a public tender. “Italian cuisine, one of the crown jewels of our cultural heritage, is beloved worldwide not only for its quality but also for embodying a healthy lifestyle,” said Ambassador Vattani. “At the Italy Pavilion, we will promote sustainable food education, rooted in respect for raw materials and short supply chains. Our collaboration with Eataly will celebrate the quality of Made in Italy and the diverse regional traditions, highlighting local specialties and biodiversity.” Andrea Cipolloni added, “We are honored to represent Italy and, after nearly a year of preparation, we are ready to deliver.

Our mission is to create a full immersion into Italian food and wine culture, promoting our country’s traditions and the global passion for Italian cuisine.” From 13 April to 13 October 2025, the restaurant will host a rotating program featuring 18 Italian regions, each presenting their unique culinary traditions. Visitors will enjoy iconic Eataly dishes, high-quality ingredients, and regional specialties, all while experiencing the rich storytelling of Italy’s diverse gastronomic heritage. Situated on the pavilion’s terrace, the restaurant will offer an authentic Italian dining experience, complemented by the stunning backdrop of the Italian garden. Eataly, founded in 2007, has been a symbol of Italian food excellence worldwide.

With over 50 locations across 15 countries, including five in Japan (four in Tokyo and one in Fujisawa), Eataly integrates retail, dining, and educational activities to promote Italian food culture. Expo 2025 Osaka, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” will see participation from 160 countries and an estimated 30 million visitors. The Italy Pavilion, designed by Mario Cucinella Architects, interprets the theme as “Art Regenerates Life,” positioning Italy as a leader in sustainable innovation and cultural heritage. Through this partnership, Eataly and the Italy Pavilion aim to celebrate Italy’s culinary artistry while fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable food practices and regional diversity.
