The excellence of Calabria’s wine production will take center stage at the gala dinner that will inaugurate the Düsseldorf Fair during the prestigious Meininger Awards – Excellence in Wine & Spirit evening.
ProWein 2025 is approaching, and anticipation is growing for one of the most significant events in the global wine and spirits industry. Düsseldorf is preparing to welcome a diverse audience from Sunday, March 16 to Tuesday, March 18, including enthusiasts, industry professionals, media, and trade experts. The event will offer visitors the opportunity to taste approximately 12,000 labels and discover over 4,000 exhibitors from all over the world.
Once again this year, Calabria will be present with a selection of its finest regional labels, once again demonstrating the strong bond between the German market and Calabria’s wine production.
“Germany represents a strategic market for our wine sector,” emphasized Gianluca Gallo, Calabria’s Regional Agriculture Councilor. “Data shows an increase in our companies’ exports and the emergence of significant commercial relationships with German operators. However, to consolidate this positive trend, investing in promotional activities is essential.”
The Meininger Awards – Excellence in Wine & Spirit evening is one of the most prestigious and established wine events on the international scene. The event will showcase some of the finest expressions of Calabria’s viticulture to an audience of approximately 500 guests, including specialized journalists, buyers, and prominent industry entrepreneurs. During the evening, Calabria will present a program designed to highlight the remarkable progress the region has achieved in producing high-quality wines.
The event is part of the “Calabria Straordinaria” project, an initiative aimed at promoting regional tourism by enhancing Calabria’s rich food and wine heritage and cultural traditions. Numerous initiatives will accompany this campaign, involving institutions and key figures from the wine sector.
One of the most exciting collaborations will be with the Italian Chefs Association in Germany. Thanks to the contribution of its president, Concetta Ragusa, the association’s chefs will have the opportunity to present a special gastronomic event during ProWein, exploring the incredible versatility of Calabrian wines paired with traditional German products and dishes.
