The Roman Empire in Gianvito Rossi’s new collection

The Roman Empire inspired Gianvito Rossi‘s spring-summer 2024 footwear collection, his first since joining Richemont last July. Gold, silver, leather bracelets that go up the leg as in ancient coturni, laurel leaves and shoots enrich the silhouettes of these creations intended for a woman who wants to get noticed, starting with the shoes. The leather bracelets worn in the days of Ancient Rome are reinterpreted in the metallic sandals, which, unlike the originals have thin stiletto heels. Golden laurel leaves, a symbol of victory, rise along the flat gladiator sandals, wrapping the leg in an embrace. A precious three-dimensional metallic leather flower gives a new allure to the designer’s most iconic mule.

For daytime, chunky-heeled gladiator and platform sandals are proposed, both featuring oversized round buckles. A soft and discreet appeal, on the other hand, defines the second part of the collection, which consists of a series of flat models. The low heel also characterizes slingbacks with elastic leather drawstring that ensure practicality and comfort. The palette focuses on neutral tones of brown, praline, mousse and powder, shades of pistachio green, freesia and light blue.

The 99-million-revenue company in 2022 is committed to retail expansion, now up to 39 stores with openings in recent weeks in China’s Shenzhen and in Vietnam, where the store at Trang Tien Plaza
in the capital Hanoi was inaugurated.
