The Kennedy Center arrives at Villa Petriolo

A unique formula that of the Villa Petriolo Music Festival whose first edition will be held on 3 July 2024 at Villa Petriolo, the world’s most sustainable agritourism. A single guest for each edition will create a unique atmosphere for a concert of the highest level. The project was conceived together with Roberta Marcenaro, founder of IMARK, a boutique consulting agency for leading companies in the creation of strategic alliances with US and European companies, and Daniele Nannetti GM of Villa Petriolo. Kicking off this brilliant initiative is Angel Gil-Ordónez currently music director/conductor of the PostClassical Ensemble and principal guest conductor of the Perspectives Ensemble in New York, as well as music director of the Georgetown University Orchestra in Washington, D.C. In addition, Gil-Ordónez is education and programming consultant of the Trinitate Philharmonia, a programme in León, Mexico, modelled on Venezuela’s El Sistema, and is regular guest conductor of the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine. His concert, in collaboration with the 15-piece Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, will be dedicated to Italian opera music with special reference to Puccini and the centenary of his death, which the entire classical music world is celebrating this year.

Performances include the Intermezzo and O Lola ch’hai di latti la cammisa from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Ponchielli’s Danza delle ore, Che gelida manina, Mi chiamano Mimì from Boheme, Recondita Armonia, Vissi d’arte from Tosca, Crisantemi, Tu che di gel sei cinta, Nessun dorma from Turandot, O mio babbino caro from Gianni Schicchi, and Bimba dagli occhi pieni di malia from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Libiam ne lieti calici from Verdi’s La Traviata. Maestro Gil-Ordónez is very attached to Italy: ‘In addition to my many trips to Italy, I have fond memories of attending my mentor Sergiu Celibidache’s conducting seminars in the late 1980s at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale in Saluzzo. My only professional activity in Italy was a successful production of Manuel de Falla’s “El Amor Brujo” during the 1994/95 Opera and Ballet Season at the Giuseppe Verdi Theatre in Trieste, where I conducted the orchestra of that theatre”.

An important union that seeks to unite two countries with very deep cultural ties, Italy and the United States, right on the eve of the American holiday par excellence, the 4th of July, in an ideal celebration of the US in the beautiful country.Villa Petriolo is a completely sustainable Villa-farm, which has received 100% sustainability certification from the GSTC as the first and at the moment only agritourism in the world, and has just been chosen as the venue for the Hub Italian Fashion and Lifestyle Sector Driving Sustainable and inclusive Design created with the UN and the Fashion Impact Fund to be held in November at the Cerreto Guidi location.
