Teatro alla Scala at Dubai Opera on Dec. 1

On the occasion of the United Nations COP28 UAE global conference on climate change, Dubai Opera – the main center for performing arts in the UAE whose superintendent is Paolo Petrocelli – presents “Concert for Tomorrow,” an extraordinary gala concert that will feature, for the first time in the UAE, the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano, a leading institution of Italian artistic excellence.

The program will certainly not disappoint the expectations of the international audience expected in the auditorium, skillfully alternating great symphonic pages, such as the opening Nabucco or the interludes from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, with arias and duets among the most famous of the world opera repertoire from Traviata, Bohème, Gianni Schicchi, Rigoletto. A repertoire, by the way, that is perfect for the two young but already very successful protagonists: soprano Aida Garifullina and Italian tenor Piero Pretti, conducted by Milanese Michele Gamba.

The concert of the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra at the Dubai Opera House is an extraordinary event, celebrating the friendship between Italy and the United Arab Emirates and meant to be a source of inspiration for the delegates to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai“, says the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Italy, Gennaro Sangiuliano. “Music touches the deep chords of the human soul and brings peoples closer together. Faced with the epochal challenges of our time, Italy is pleased to put one of its cultural excellence at the service of dialogue between nations.”
