FLOS OLEI TOUR IN ROME: 85 Companies and 250 Labels for a Journey Through the World’s Finest Extra Virgin Olive Oils.

With 729 oils reviewed, the “Flos Olei” guide explores the world’s top 500 olive oil producers from 57 countries, confirming that extra virgin olive oil is truly a global phenomenon.

The first stop of the Flos Olei international tour will take place in the Eternal City on December 15th at the elegant The Westin Excelsior Hotel. This unique event will provide the press, trade professionals, and enthusiasts with the chance to engage with the finest olive oil producers worldwide and discover the latest edition of the guide. Curated by Marco Oreggia, a seasoned taster and author, along with Laura Marinelli, a specialized journalist, Flos Olei has become an essential reference for the industry, showcasing and enhancing the best producers.

An intense year of work allowed the panel of experts to select 729 top-quality oils, turning the guide into a comprehensive olive oil atlas. Its international reach is underscored by three language editions (Italian-English, Italian-Spanish, and Italian-Chinese) and a broad geographical representation of 57 countries across five continents. Nonetheless, the Mediterranean remains the preferred region for olive oil excellence, with Italy and Spain standing out with 20 and 14 cartographies, respectively, out of 91 in total.

“2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the guide,” says Marco Oreggia, “and December 15th will be a special opportunity to celebrate this milestone with our audience, longstanding partners, and all stakeholders in the sector. From the very beginning, we’ve focused on both consumers and trade professionals, and this dual focus is what sets us apart.”

When it comes to quality, Flos Olei leaves no room for doubt: among the nine companies included in the Hall of Fame, five are Italian and three are Spanish, showcasing remarkable consistency and stylistic coherence over the years.

“The term ‘Hall of Fame,'” explains Laura Marinelli, “comes from the world of sports and honors those who have achieved outstanding results. It refers to a select group of champions who consistently top our rankings.”

Additionally, the prestigious Special Awards recognize those who contribute to the promotion and dissemination of high-quality olive oil. This year’s winners include Norenfoods Technology Co. Ltd (Importer of the Year), Trattoria da Aurelio in Livorno (Restaurant of the Year), Nieves Ortega from Olimerca (Journalist of the Year), and the FIOI – Italian Federation of Independent Olive Growers (Cristina Tiliacos Special Award).

“A special thanks,” adds Oreggia, “goes to our team, always committed to pursuing excellence. Over the years, Flos Olei has become an authoritative reference in the sector, highlighting not only the finest products but also the people who dedicate their passion and professionalism to this extraordinary product.”

The event on Sunday, December 15th, will kick off at 10:30 AM with a press conference presenting the guide, followed by the awards ceremony for the selected companies. From 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an intercontinental tasting of the oils on display. There will also be food stands featuring high-quality products. As per tradition, gastronomy will play a key role, with 11 renowned chefs performing live cooking demonstrations to showcase the proper use of quality olive oil in the kitchen. For those eager to learn more, seminars will be held to blend education with outreach, offering an experience that is both accessible and professional.
